>>53877005It's an odd one. I really love the designs but it has a different vibe from all the other Pokemon games.
In a way it feels like a true gen 6. It's as different from anything that came before it as gen 5 was for example. It's hard to put into the words, but the entire atmosphere, aesthetic, storyline and so on feels like an experimental continuation of gen 5 rather than what gen 6 ended up being, which was familiar and safe.
The game definitely takes more than a bit from Digimon. The starter being a key part of the story and changing forms at will, the edgier story, the lore of the legendaries which honestly doesn't fit in anywhere with the lore of the series. Some of it is interesting but some of it is for its detriment.
Mechanically it's the most polished fangame out there. It runs smoothly, looks nice, has animated sprites, all the towns are memorable with their own aesthetic, Pokémon designs look good. It's challenging at times too without being broken or unfair, has that difficulty of pre gen 6 games only bumped up a bit. The sound type is generic and annoying but it's not hard to adapt to it. My main gripe is not being able to use some of the new Pokemon until the postgame and some of the xeno forms at all like TTar. I had to hack them all in.
Probably the best Pokémon fangame/hack ever made.
