I stopped watching the anime around gen 4 but I loved Snorlax vs Medicham. Anytime Ash used his old mons you knew it'd be kino.

Ash vs Sawyer and Ash vs Alain are better but Ash vs Paul is a close third. The XYZ animation just puts it way above any other battle

This battle is actually overrated when you take off the nostalgia goggles. The only great moment is when Infernape activates Blaze. Paul is in full jerk mode throughout it but mellows out instantly as soon as he loses when he had never made a move in that direction.

Nah orange league is still the top in my eyes
It's filled with greatness starting with the ditto fight, lapras tie, Tauros giving his best and the final train ran on dragonite culminating with Pikachu getting the KO is pure animated hype

Ash vs Gary is another that is pretty cool given how much we waited for it and I think Kathy from gen3 and the final Brandon fight deserve recognition, then I'll have Alain and Paul as a tie followed by Tobias just because I have such a big sceptile bias, seeing him take down Darkrai is one of my favorite anime moments despite the fight being a glorified 2v6

Ash vs Alain was kino until the very last frame of the fight. If any other company other than TPCi was in charge, literally anyone else, then Ash vs Alain would be revered as the peak of the franchise.
