C. A minor backlash against Justice Smith because the protag in the game was white, not black. I call this Little Niggmaid Effect.
D. People hate Justice Smith.
E. Ryan Reynolds doesn't act like Ryan Reynolds in the movie except a few quips in Pikachu form.
F. CHARIZARD was heavily nerfed.
G. It was based on a pokemon game most people barely heard about.
H. No Ash Ketchum cameo.
I. No pokelolis.
J. Lack of marketing to the general populace. Most of the marketing was aimed at pokefans only.
K. Too high budget for an experimental movie.
L. High expectations, low yield.
M. Change of distribution rights from Universal to Warner Bros.
N. PG rating instead of G even though the movie was aimed at younger audience.
O. Moviegoers was still feeling euphoric from Avengers: Endgame (and possibly John Wick)
