Probably in Unova or Alola
Pokemon sell itself on its world, and though I love the spinoffs, the basic gist the mainline gives you is still the most appealing

I would choose anime since it looks more like the real world. Although honestly, when you consider that you aren't one of the protagonists, so you don't really fight any villians and are more of a npc, the worlds kind of the same really.
