Anyone else feel this way? I grew up with Platinum, HG and BW(2). I had Emerald as a kid too but the battery was broken so I didn't really play it much. Recently I've been playing FireRed and one thing I've noticed is shit just gets done faster. It's snappy and responsive. There aren't any pauses between you selecting a move and the damage being dealt. The transition from overworld to battle scene is noticeably quicker than the DS games. The battle UI is also more compact and quicker to navigate (the bag is a bit clunky though).
The sprites are also really gorgeous
I'm a 3D hater and desu this just makes me dislike the Switch and 3DS games more. Starting to think Gen 3 rom hacks are the best way to experience Pokémon. It does not get any more SOVLFVL than this bros
