We ALWAYS hated Gen 2. Gym leaders dont use Johto mons.
We ALWAYS hated Gen 3. Too much water.

I wouldn't even mind it if water routes weren't treated like caves.
Like, if there was calm water that functioned like roads, and then turbulent water where you surfed into to run into wild pokemon.
As a kid, I never returned to these routes after completing the game.

It wasn't that common at all. The complaints about Gen 3 were entirely centred around the graphics and lack of backwards compatibility. No one gave a fuck about the water routes.

Even as a kid I thought everything after Lilycove was fucking ass. Last two gyms of the game and all you get are constant Wingull and Tentacool encounters on routes that are way too wide open for their own good.
