>>53962712It isnt a ripoff of Veridian Forest, and is now a unique maze, expanded to allow the several new bugs and critters some breathing room, like Bidoof and Wurmple.
Route 3 isn't that different, maybe an additional trainer, but it does have Rattata.
Santalune City has a Shauna battle before you can take on the bug gym. Starter, Riolu on rt 22, 'bout lvl 9. Easy if youre overleveled from grinding, because XP from captures is fucking busted. That shit is gone. Rt 22 has a new trainer, new mons, etc.
Viola, and her gym, are harder, because its an enhanced version. Up a level for each of her two mons, and Vivillion knows gust.
After that, Rt 4. 2 new trainers, and oddish is a notable new mon, but more important is that this is where Team Flare becomes involved. Just a grunt who challenges you because you looked funny, but a grunt nonetheless.
Big changes happen to Lumiose City. First, there is no blackout. The routes in the previously blocked off area are accessable, but are tough, given that they are for when you swing on back. You can try and brave them, but you wont last. Meanwhile, the inner city avenues, expanded so that they reflect what a city really is, have wild Pokemon. Rattata, Plusle and Minun, Dedenne, Trubbish and Grimer if you look hard enough. They just attack, no grass.
You meet the professor, where he challenges you to a battle. If you win against his 3 starters, which are kanto, he gives you the one that covers your kalos starter weakness. Water gets Fire, etc. Shauna and your Rival will also get their complementary Kantos. Notably, you do not get the mega stone for your starter. Instead, Sycamore says that its out there, as well as many more mega stones.
Id like to divest something. There are about double the megas. X, Y, ORAS too. Take them all, and double them. Most are given to mons that actually deserve it, like Ledian, Sunflora, and a good few Kalos mons. The Kalos starters get one as well, because why the fuck didnt they.
