Gen 8 destroyed most goodwill people still had. Gen 6 had its problems, but it was GF’s first 3D game that was to be expected. Gen 7 had its problems, but it was the 3DS holding it back and next time would be different. LGPE had its problems, but it was their first switch game and for a younger audience. Clearly gen 8 would be the turnabout point. Except it wasn’t, and in fact they doubled down on bad practices and shat out games objectively lazier than the others.

Disagree. Everything went to shit in Gen 3.
Needing 5 games just to get every single Pokémon in a generation and pressuring people to buy GCN spin-offs and attend expired events for timed exclusives is bullshit.
Even before SWSH, we had ORAS’s infamous BF project, USUM being released a year after, and LGPE being priced at the same value as BOTW despite being made for the 3DS.
Now we have overpriced DLC packs with Legendary Pokémon you have to choose between one and the other.

I was, I’m just listing the excuses people had for each of the games and I’m surprised you never saw them. There’s been a ton of hate ever since “the battle frontier project had started!” but diehard fans had their excuses up until the dexcut announcement. It took that for them to finally realized they weren’t the target audience anymore, and the state of the game made things worse. Only actual shills and tertiary fans are left now defending things.

It wasn't just this shithole, just about every dedicated Pokemon forum was livid about the Battle Frontier interview. It was really the watershed moment of the series, every horrible thing that's happened since then was pretty well outlined by the design philosophy they claimed to have in 2014

It was only normie communities like twitter or general Nintendo forums that had the opinions you're espousing, and those same places still have the same opinions about the current games

to me the exp share is the worst thing to ever happen to the games. It was nice in the old games when it was only 1 pokemon and the exp is split, but just giving all the pokemon equal experience removed any difficulty in the game

Gen5 had flaws, but distancing itself from KANTOOOOOOO so that the new Pokémon and characters can be allows to stand on their own instead of being used a stepping stones to elevate KANTOOOOOOO made up for it.
