I thought Steelix looked so cool until I saw it open its mouth. In gen 2 I just assumed it didn't open its mouth at all and was supposed to always look like it was clenching its teeth which was badass to me. I didn't watch the anime and got a Steelix in Pokemon Go many years later. You can feed berries to every Pokemon in that game, so when I fed it a berry I was instantly flooded with emotions of shock, confusion, disappointment, anger. I don't know what I expected, but it wasn't this. I still like Steelix, but he looks like a fucking idiot dumbass with teeth knocked out instead of just cool as fuck and this realization dropped Steelix from a Pokemon I would consider one of my favorites and a must to raise -> down to one I kinda might just evolve to have one because it still looks cool with its mouth closed, but not really raise or use it because I know the sad reality of its super fucking retarded looking teeth.
