>>53978440>>53978535>>53978539dudunsparce's design pulls primarily from two sources, the problem is they dont mesh well
pic related is source 1, the most contentious aspect of the design, and is referenced in the Three-Segment form's dex entires
source 2, the one that throws all the gum in the gears, is the Cuélebre:
>winged-serpent from Cantabrian and Asturian folklorePaldea is based on Spain, Dudunsparce is a fat snake with wings
>its impervious scales grow thicker with ageDudunsparce has much bulkier stats and has a "hard" cap on its tail
>only weak spot is its throatThe spiral pattern on the underside of first segment regardless of form
>lives in deep cavesOnly find in the wild in Area Zero
>retreats to Mar Cuajada in old age, a place with diamonds covering the bottomThe lowest point of Area Zero is covered in large crystals
The main reason why these two inspirations dont mesh well, as I see it, is that the connections to the Cuélebre are all incidental, or at least feel incidental against the more obvious theme of "dunsparce but bigger". Paldea and Dudunsparce both feel like gamefreak did the minimum possible research on Spain and its regional folklore & culture when drafting designs for the towns and the pokemon native to the region. I don't want the "wowo epic dragon" that most people draw up for dunsparce, but what we got doesn't feel very coherent, especially when compared to the other two evolutions introduced
