This shouldn't bother me nearly as much as it does, but how come almost nobody in this goddamn franchise has a full name? Obviously there are exceptions, like picrel and the Oak family, but to this day they just refuse to give surnames to characters.

It's always felt kind of bizarre to me how randos will call big important figures like Gym Leaders and Champions by simply their first name, as if there aren't other Jasmines or Cynthias or Aarons in the Pokemon universe. And, again, it's not even consistent, because you'll just have Ash Ketchum and fuckin Rad Rickshaw walking around. Unironically kills my immersion in this baby game.
