Pokemon anime worth watching after hearing spoilers?

Hi fellow Anons, I'm new to Pokemon and the animated series pulled me in immediately, so I decided to watch all seasons. Currently I'm on Season 3 - Johto Journeys.

Not long ago however someone told me a major spoiler - Ash becoming a Pokemon World Champion and thus a Pokemon Master at the end of Ultimate Journeys. I don't know how or any other details, just the fact above.

Is the series worth watching despite knowing that?

As someone who watched the entire series, Journeys is unironically bottom of the barrell, along with SM.
Both are absolutely fucking shit, and people only remember it as "good" because they think they got redeemed by making Ash win a League in the first one, and becoming the World Champion in the second one.
Just remember both were so shit they ultimately fucking killed the series, forcing them to bench ash and create a whole new character. Watch Horizons instead. Its airing, it has threads on /a/ discussing the new episodes weekly, and the writers are actually fucking trying this time around.

Don't watch the Japanese Version past Season 13/late DP, see above.

JN and BW are the worst of the worst in any Language, while Johto is tedious because of filler but it's not terrible, either.

The Pokémon anime was designed to run indefinitely until it stopped being relevant. So they let it end. There was no planned endgame. There were no plans in general. Don't worry about anything you hear because different staff come and go, the anime is a commercial.

It's not really worth watching beyond nostalgia and occasional scenes from XY onward.

Eh, it's worth mentioning that OS gets pretty lame after a while, especially once the Johto arc goes, and AG really really feels like "DP but not as good" due to their very similar formulas.

Are you enjoying it so far, filler and all? If so, keep watching.
Knowing the outcome of Ash's story in the anime doesn't mean everything that came before it is suddenly not worth watching.
I've enjoyed every season, to varying degrees, regardless what the "popular" opinion might be. BW/JN, for example, I found to be enjoyable, even though like with any other season, there are things that I wish had been handled differently.

I would give All the way to SM except BW a go, each series has something going for itself. For BW it's a mixed bag because of the circumstances surrounding it. JN on the other hand is a really, really mixed bag.

I am currently rewatching it to create a Watch Guide with bullet points like Teams, Companions, progressions. In the style to the guide of my favorite Yugioh Show, 5Ds.

Personal recommendation is OS, XY and SM. Also the Likonime is gonna be tomorrow on the 12th episode mark before a 2 week break and so far no episode has been straight up and they are all coming together. It's currently a 7/10 for me. But because of the new pacing and writing, it's better for some parts to watch them together instead of weekly.

S9-13 suck in the dub, though, find the sub for Battle Frontier & Sinnoh. It's such a bad switch, Ash sounds like a chain-smoker for a huge part of it, Brock sounds like an old man, TRio cannot stop rhyming every fucking line in Sinnoh plus slang everywhere, etc.

S17-19 (Kalos) is when the dub goes to absolute shit in general.

S9+ is bad dubbed, but S17 onward, unwatchable.

I'd personally jump from dub to sub after skipping BW and go straight to XY full weeb mode.
Its the most shonenshit season so it fits the language swap. Also getting to hear the fucking orchestrated OSTs of the games in the sub is amazing after the dubslop shitty music we got as replacement down the line.

Johto was more boring than anything, not bad but the fillers dragged it down.

AG was a better DP to me, Brock and TRio especially are more bearable in the former than latter (Takeshi went to hell in DP, especially, never more useless or flanderized than there).

Journeys is fucking trash and one of if not the biggest waste of potential in the entire franchise.
Imagine actually doing a dream once in a lifetime event like a tournament between all the Champions, and having Ash finally being on the level of the Champions, and have it full of shit animation, delays, recaps, half of the Champions looking like jobbers, not letting Ash using his reserves, and so on.

Best to end it there once you finish that season. If you really want more, finish Johto/Original Series. The series's potential died right after episode 143 and became a zombie series from then on, pic related as to why.

After that episode, Johto went in on the filler hell it became infamous for. If there is one, a watch guide is recommended if you want to get to any semblance of plot while not wasting time on the filler.
If you decide to continue after Johto, Hoenn (AG) adds another character with an arc that does things slightly different, otherwise you're getting the same adventure again with Ash and arguably with the new character.
Sinnoh (DP) is Hoenn again but combined with Johto's pacing, however, I've seen fans praise the character development in Ash's team and the league was one of the better ones.
Unova (BW) started out with build up for a more serious plot, but real life circumstances caused a pair of upcoming crucial episodes to never air and thus succumbing the series into mediocrity like the rest.
I can't say much what the later seasons were like, I dropped it completely in early BW shortly after those aforementioned episodes were skipped. To me from what I've read from summaries and reactions, Kalos (XY) is Sinnoh again, Alola (SM) actually does something different for its plot, but the art style doesn't look good on characters from the previous series at all, and what the hell is even Journeys? I have no hope for Horizons, it looks too much like Journeys, but with a completely different cast, which is the only positive thing I can say about it since the series should've done that all the way back in Johto.

The show is okay in a vacuum and Ash's last battle is very good but in the context of the other shows especially the earlier ones it's an obnoxious power creep nightmare. Ash's new team reaches "champion level" in less than 64 episodes totally invalidating his previous adventures. Like the old Pokémon movies where legendary Pokémon were treated like Gods Ash couldn't just beat up? Well Goh a newbie trainer can catch them with the same level of challenge you'd get from playing a hard mario level. Not Kaito just a harder level by the standards of post N64 nintendo.

By any chance are you also watching the movies and specials alongside the episodes? If not, there might be some you probably should.
For the movies, the first 4 are all highly recommended in quality (by Pokémon standards) and/or tying the plot to the series. After that, the only ones I can really recommend are 5, 8, and 21. If you've seen the 2nd movie, you've basically seen movies 5 - 19. 20, 21, and 23 are in its own continuity and 22 is a remake of 1.
For recommended specials pertaining to the original series (Kanto and Johto), there's Mewtwo Returns, The Legend of Thunder, and the specials that aired during AG on the Weekly Pokémon Broadcasting Station in Japan which became part of Pokémon Chronicles in the dub.
When it comes to sub vs dub, I'm also recommending what the other anons have said; if you go dub, switch to sub after Advanced Battle. I also highly advise to go sub when watching The Legend of Thunder and any other special in Chronicles as the dub quality for Chronicles is worse than the series and movies.

Wasted potential the season. Making Ash travel the world and meeting both new and old folks is great in theory, but they made Ash's char flip-flop all-around like an autistic schizo, barely fucking using the reserve mons and then they split the plot in 3 and two of then went fucking nowhere. They should focused on Ash only and made Go and Koharu develop along Ash's by taking turn traveling with him rather than give each middling plots, it would also show how Ash's is a more experienced trainer by making help them figure things out along the way but no, gotta shill Goh and Eevee.

NTA but it's more about the continuity in plot relevance that is set up plus the handling of the characters this time. It's probably because of the structure that it has a good appeal to it.
12 episodes are a stretch to proclaim it's the best, but honestly speaking, this is ultimately the reboot that should've after DP.

Ash's Pikachu Beats Charizard after briefly collapsing with all of Ash's Pokemon (all of them) cheering Pikachu on, including Ash. Then there's a bunch of episodes where Ash does fuckall with his friends while a Latias stalks Ash for no reason before Latios tells Ash to fuck off. Ash doesn't get married to anyone there's no future kid, he doesn't even fucking see Ho-Oh again. I liked all of the characters of SM, I think Alola is a great region and Gen 7 is good in spite of memes about "muh tutorial", Team Rocket were the most enjoyable they'd been in a while, and the school setting was comfy. Ash winning the league isn't very high up in terms of the reasons the SM anime seasons are good.
