I watched someone else’s gameplay. The protag and antag going Ultra Instinct was hilariously out of left field. Reusing music from official Pokemon games is fine, but hearing music from older series was bizarre. The robocops felt weird too, where did all their high level Pokemon come from?

Horse shit. It took less than 5 minutes to find, and most of that was waiting for shit to load on this slow ass phone from 2016 I'm using right now. I googled "pokemon opalo english translation". First result was a reddit post that didn't have a download link but had a shout out to the YouTube channel that made the translation, so I click on that. Then I go to the search in channel thing and search "opalo", which found a playlist of playing it and a video about downloading it. I click the one about downloading it and the description has Mediafire and Mega links.

Good game, but the creator can’t code to save his life. Half the of the Pokémon have arbiter or nonsensical balance changes and a lot of shit just doesn’t work because it isn’t programmed right. It got worse in his future games. The breeding mechanics in Pokémon Anil are downright broken for example. The incense don’t do anything and you’ll always obtain a baby pokemon when breeding, this means that trying to get a aqua jet Maril will always result in a Azuril. Opalo is full of the same downright bizarre shit. The music sometimes just stops working. Stairs are sometimes mono directional and something they’re impossible to stop on. Stuff like that.

Besides that the story is good if a bit hilarious in unintended ways. It’s written like a 90s Shonen anime in that people sometimes just act stupid for no reason and then things get absurdly serious in a tone whiplash. Mega evolution somehow feels both tacked on and integral to the story. The lore can be completely off the rails in places which is both a good thing and a bad thing depending on how you take it. It’s very mixed but I still recommend it.

to be fair, that's how it works in scarlet and violet now
they might have implemented the change and forgot to cut the incenses

It’s only realistic an issue because Azuril and Maril have different egg moves, Azuril can’t get Aqua Jet or Bellydrum for example. Maril still has those egg moves in the files so it wasn’t one of his questionable balance changes
