about it.
I don’t know why.
I think it’s the eyes, they just look completely out of place. They’re shaped very strangely and hardly correlate with Wattrel’s, which were way more memorable. It kind of feels like they were just slapped on more than they were actively integrated into the design.
Couple that with its in-game design making it impossible to see in places like gym battles and the rest of it just not holding up for me (its patterns especially look super haphazard) and it’s a disappointing waste of a design based off one of the coolest birds on earth. I think even a basic-ass “its throat sac is shaped like a heart and it’s a fairy type” design would be a bit better. We haven’t had something like that since Swoobat.
Also, Kilowattrel’s art looks supremely retarded. Such a stiff and awkward pose. Should’ve been on the ground keeping both its wings outstretched or something.

Espathra is the only one worth anything, every single other one is mediocre at best and bottom-20 in the franchise at worst. Quantity over quality was their mantra here, I guess :(

if it kept the glowing yellow part it currently has (or changed it to orange instead of grey) I’d probably like this a lot more.
