It's the same reason you see the "Unova is 3D" and anti-Alola threads pop up every once in a while when either gets praised. They try to push the "downfall" either forward to gen 7 or backward to gen 5, so gen 6 won't be bad because "obviously this other game is much worse, you might as well just stop talking about Kalos now and never criticize it again".
