It's like the devs realized at the last minute, "Oh, shit, we need to drop a little bit of lore for the niggercattle consumers to graze on. Let's dump a couple of generic creation myths into this library for the player to read."
It's not like Skyrim, where there's hundreds of different books scattered across the game world for the player to discover and read at their own pace, or Baldur's Gate, if you want an example of something that did this and came out before DPPt. It's just, "go to the library, this is where all the myths are, okay have fun."
Oh, and the game literally forces you to go there during the main plot, so you can't discover it on your own either. It's literally shoved into your face.
