From my understanding, Which is not a lot to be fair, Reborn used to be like a shitty forum where people played Pokemon and larped as a "Pokemon league", At least that's I think it is. Basically all the events of the league were fake and the Reborn oldfags just accepted it at face value, they also continued telling the Reborn newfags it was real despite Lins player saying it was fake when they quit.
The characters aren't self inserts but Amethyst wasn't the only one playing them.
