>>54013551I always felt that what made pokemon "pokemon" was the aspect of actually exploring and capturing things. the transfer-only pokemon don't really contribute to that feeling a whole lot, mostly because the number you can obtain ingame without transfers usually isn't very high.
that said, as much as being able to transfer pokemon was nice, it does kind of devalue the fun of capturing things when you just end up transferring everything you've already caught from earlier games (though that is somewhat rendered null by how long it takes for them to implement home support in new games)
I might would care more if the newer games even pre-dex cut still had meaningful side activities to use your pokemon in, but it's only ever the billionth battle tower or a reskin of it
so as it is now, I'd rather them just set out whatever dex they have planned and spend the rest of development stuffing as much meat into the gameplay and region as they can. but going off the past few games, I'm not very confident they'll actually do it
