this shit is incredibly low quality. dragon type was meant to imitate those 'final bosses' in JRPGs that resisted almost everything, at least in the first couple gens. they would have never put that on a starter.

you would be better off trying to bait by saying something like 'why did they give charizard flying type' or something, or 'why did they make bulbasaur grass/poison in later gens'. it's possible people might mistakenly remember them as being single typed. I pretty frequently forget bulbasaur was poison type.

Yeah you can come up with a justification for any type if you think long and hard enough, but those two are particularly justifiable. How would you justify electric grass, normal dark or ground psychic? I'm sure you could if you thought about it, but it wouldn't be as simple as "little grass/fairy woodland creature" or "artic sea-dwelling ice/water mammal".

You're not even justifying the themes here in the first place. You're just saying what the theme is. Woodland creature, sea dwelling mammal. Those are the themes. And not surprisingly it's easy to come up with reasons they could be any type.

yes anon I know you can be creative and make a typing for anything - I can do it too - the point is if you want a dragon/fire starter and you're worried it'll be too strong against the others then you can very easily just add those typings AND very easily thematically justify that.

Not really. Charizard only learns the move by TM in RBY, so that shows it was a purposeful (and pointless) nerf. Strangely conflicts with the "Charizard is the ultimate shillmon" narrative.

Cool now Psychic isn't completely broken in gen 1, and Char doesnt have a crippling 4x weakness. Is still beat by Blastoise, and Dragonite still has a great stat block as a Final Boss
