By this point I practically see this as inevitable and I think Gamefreak is likely going to make a region based on the shithole I was born into because my German forefathers made the awful mistake of moving here at the end of WW2. There are honestly a lot of great ideas for terrain variety due to the massive amount of biomes this country has, The Northeast has deserts and exotic plants, The south is like a mini Europe, With plenty of open fields called pampas, Mountain ranges, Unlike the rest of the country it gets pretty cold in here during winter and it's the only part of this shithole of a country that is still majority White, The Southeast of Brazil is the most populated area and it's typically considered the face of this hell on earth, Rio de Janeiro is basically Brazil's California and São Paulo is Brazil's New York, Both extremely Jewish states, The Central West region of the country is fairly unique because of the Pantanal, It's a massive swampland encroached by forests, It's full of rare fauna and like the South it's an agricultural state that also houses our capital and for last we have the North, It's all jungle, It's full of rare animals, Extremely dangerous and there are several jokes made in related to the fact a certain state named Acre doesn't exist and has dinosaurs in it. This country also houses quite a few Japanese and the Portuguese have quite a lot of history involving Japan, So much so much that certain Japanese phrases like "domo arigato" are derived from Portuguese, In this case "muito obrigado" which means "thanks a lot". The country has a lot of mythological creatures to base Pokemon off of and it has several famous characters that could easily be turned into Pokemon as well. I'd love to hear your lad's take on things like this.
