Nothing beats a GSC playthrough with a Typhlosion with Tpunch and Rollout. I used to love steamrolling the Elite 4 with just my Typhlosion to get swathes of money when I was a kid with the time, patience and autism. It was a very useful fire type in Colosseum too, especially since your main alternatives would be Slugma, who is crazy slow and Entei, who is a Legendary and kinda cheapens the difficulty.
H-Typhlosion is cool too.
As I've grown I've come to appreciate Feraligatr a lot more and it's become my favourite Johto starter but Typhlosion will always hold a place in my heart.
