The overt simplicity adds a lot of variety to Pokemon's aesthetic as a whole, and yet its still a charming and cute design. Same reason I like Maushold, or even more abstractly, the future Paradox pokemon's extreme cohesion in contrast to the past Paradox ones. Its the exact sort of thing that makes turbo autists pucker their assholes, gives a nice sense of imbalance and unpredictability to the designs as a whole.
