>>54041355>I don't understand genwars, as in rejecting and detesting a gen, not arguing which gen is better. Then you're probably too young and will experience it some day.
>How can someone hate a whole gen?If said gen deliberately dropped good mechanics from the previous one. It could also be the case that there are new Pokémon in said gen that deliberately replaces a Pokémon from a previous gen, like Corviknight was designed to fuck Skarmory; Salamence was designed to mog Dragonite, etc.
>Obviously there is a lot of Pokemon one wouldn't like in every gen, but to hate every single one of them requires a lot of willpower.Let me put it this way: the opposite of love is not hate. The opposite of love is "indifference". I hate most of gen 7, but acknowledge them as real Pokémon. Gen 8 and 9 I'm so indifferent I don't even know their names. They're not real to me because I've lost the desire to interact with a constantly degrading franchise.
>And if you don't hate every one of them, why say you dislike the whole gen?A "gen" isn't simply the Pokémon. In gen 8, the entire aesthetic shifted to being more cartoony. The music is different now, the world-building is different. Even just the gameplay which is probably the one thing that DOESN'T change for the worst, just stagnates.
>Don't you feel bad for the cool ones? Why appeal to sympathy for fictional characters when the discussion is already in a higher realm? For example, if you can prove that a character is a rip-off of another fictional character, "feeling bad" doesn't enter into the equation because the entire discussion is concerning fabricated intellectual property.
>You are a Pokemon fan, yet you despise such a big part of itLots of fandoms are like this. 40k has its purist who hate the modern casualized version. Final Fantasy has its purists who love 1-12 with all their heart and hate everything that came after because it ruined the flavour.
