Why the fuck didn't gamefreak let them handle the Diamond and Pearl reamakes? Imagine how much better it would've been if it was them instead of some no name company

As of now, they only have 22 employees. Most of the people who worked there were moved over to Game Freak (that's how they got James Turner), leaving behind only a skeleton crew to make mobile shit

Nintendo funded the studio to help the GameCube which was off the bad start, they wanted a system seller Pokemon title and Coliseum whilst selling great for a GameCube game, it just didn't do it, nobody bought a GameCube for it. From a different perspective, for a more adult home console Pokemon game it did way worse than expected, abysmally in fact. Nintendo stopped giving a fuck after, but most importantly Game Freak got pissy and asked they be never allowed to make Pokemon again. This request was denied but would impact how the company was treated going forward. Despite begging for projects, Nintendo would only give them slop. Eventually all the important men with power to negotiate another title like gale of darkness left. Forcing them to agree to terrible projects to stay alive, not happy with this any talented staff they had just left. And this is still where they are today, relegated to making whatever shovelware Nintendo allows them to. This has been public knowledge since about 2018-2019. But yeah they got fucked over hard because they dared to one up game freak.

They didn't try to stop GS making Pokémon games, they stopped them making pokémon games similar in style to their own core games.
They didn't give a shit about`if they made "Pikachu's Happy Berry-munching game", they gave a shit about them doing Pokémon, without understanding what the universe is supposed to be (hey, you just steal pokémon now, haha, despite none of the other mediums portraying thieves in any kind of positive light, much less designing a protag around it).

A market was there, both Colosseum and even Gale were profitable due to having a small dev team and budget. There sales were mediocre for Pokemon but great for GameCube, despite everybody thinking Pokémon is a golden ticket and anything stamped with it will sell 10 million + it just isn't always true. People saw these as spin offs which never match main titles. If they were allowed to make a mainline game for home consoles, it may have actually done what Nintendo wanted and sold GameCubes. Sadly we'll never know because GF hated what they were doing with the franchise.

If you've ever wondered why BDSP was so shit it's actually partly because of these guys, Game Freak banned them from making major Pokemon titles because they were disgusted with the direction they took the franchise and the fact it was being well received. ILCA whilst being too incompetent to make anything else, were probably never allowed to. The fact they couldn't try any funny business is probably why ILCA was chosen to do so in the first place.
