Wrong.
Santalune Forest's entire premise is showing a familiar yet different location using 3D map design. Without that it's just Kanto pandering the likes of which we wouldn't even see until Sun and Moon.
XY were nothing special at all and being in 2D would have only made those blemishes more prevalent.

I think using Action Replays for event Pokemon is actually more legitimate than getting them from Nintendo because then everyone can get them.
