The funniest part of hoping for GF to become more competent is that shit like this will be the actual result.
Pokemon runs with some of the most malicious models outside of literal phone games, they just happen to miss their mark most of the time.

The point is, that the way Pokemon has been built for ages is literally a prototypical "buy a bunch of DLC" type product. They just failed to really capitilize on it.
But if you look at what they've been trending towards, that seems to be the area they're """improving""" the most in.

this right here is part of the reason as to why cross gen evos that came out after gen 4 were a mistake
back then, the pokemon evolved and that was it
but now, they force all these dumb gimmicks on to the player and/or they paywall behind another shitty game like PLA
not to mention all their designs suck
