Gen 5 got hate for a number of reasons:
>Black and White had absolutely no old pokemon that can be caught in it. All 156 pokemon there were all unova.

>Emboar is fat. Is also the 3rd fire/fighting type in a row. Game is easiest with Emboar, especially if you keep arm thrust.
>Serperior's strengths are not immediately apparent, also some apparently don't like it grew out of its tiny leaf legs.
>Samurot's sprite fails to capture how cool it is. A lot of people for the longest time did not know those shells on its arms are long shell swords. Also it's not a biped like its two previous forms. Like imagine if it was Blastoise. Its sprite has its cannons withdrawn and hidden and only in things OUTSIDE THE GAME it's from, is it revealed that turtle has cannons in its shell. That is what happened with Samurot's sprite.
