I know about bees, I know about hive mentality. I know that for the most part if you play into their robotic-like mental programming you'll be just fine (see: that one redneck on youtube who hand-transfers swarms to boxes without gear). However, you can be doing everything right, and still get fucked.
I ended up in the hospital because while I was working outside, a bee decided to fly into my shirt sleeve, and when I lowered my arm, it got pressed in my armpit, and stung out of defense. Naturally, this hurt like hell, and in a few moments of trying to figure out what happened, the pheromones it had released attracted a few others who stung me as well. By the time I got inside, I could barely choke down eight or so benadryl before calling 911.
I don't really give a shit about the type differences between bees, wasps, hornets, and whatever the fuck else there are. Fuck off and find somewhere else to build a nest. I will naturally fear "stinging insects" because I am not some expert on bee behavior and fear triggering nature's biologically programmed autistic bugs.
