I have no rom experience, but I did think about the idea of some manner of pokemon theft, leading you to a black market area that you can end up buying or winning your pokemon back. Heavily inspired by the Majora Curiosity Shop

When they admitted that they essentially rushed Gen V's dex development and used rough drafts as the final designs, or something to that effect.
