I think it's that Japs went fuckin gaga over Leon and Raihan for some reason, so in addition to getting drawn on her own, she also gets drawn with one of those two a lot as the more popular of the protags. She also gets a yuri boost from being subtly paired with Marnie even if official shit. Aaand I think she was the female lead with Pokemon Masters EX first came out too

That was my initial theory, but Raihan and Gloria tags searched together only give about 1500 works while the Raihan/Gloria tag has 2800. And this is Gloria’s most popular jap pairing with Gloria/Hop being 2nd place (And still Raihan’s ship with Leon is way more popular) Most of her art is sfw and is her chilling with Pokemon or enjoying nature.

Shipping synergy. There's tons of official merch pairing her with Marnie( the most popular G8 character), especially for the TCG which even has a variant art of the "Friends in Galar" card with the two holding hands on it.

In comparison Juliana doesn't have that amount of shipping clout which drives fans crazy, but Florian did when paired with how crazy Nemona is

Gloria was the first Galar character added but she was released in November 2020, over a year after the Masters came out and about a month after the Crown Thundra DLC for SwSh.
Masters gave a big boost to Rosa thanks to her being one of the game’s faces and that stupid thinking face she did in game.
