He's correct but in a vacuum: statistically speaking there are always going to be Pokemon that are better off without humans and he believes that happiness is what all creatures strive for. Idealism much better suits the perverted innocence of his character.
Resh on the other hand gives him a much more pessimistic outlook. That the nth of a percent of mon abuse among all other functional relationships means the entire system is broken. It's a worldview that fits his logical side but also feels too cynical. Truth is ultimately too limiting for the scope of his wishes.
