why is nugamefreak so obsessed with facial hair? they just love super gluing facial hair on any random pokemon. why does a crab have a beard? only if the pokemon is already humanoid like mr. rime or kingambit does it make sense

also, herdier and stoutland don't have facial hair
that's just what terriers look like and unlike gmax kingler which completely butchered the bubble motif, herdier and stoutland look like actual terriers

That specific beardstyle represents power and is usually associated to kings and generals in pop culture. This fits in nicely since KINGler has king in its name. Now, how do we make a beard on a crab not look out of place? We just make it out of bubbles since crabs are known to foam. And it's done, we have a badass design for the imposing giant form of kingler.

Pokemon are creatures designed around themes and visual puns. Sometimes facial-hair looking qualities is a reasonable direction to take those ideas.
It's not that big a deal. To get mad at something so benign is kind of stupid.

Even if Emboar's is technically a beard, it doesn't look like one at all. It looks more like a shirt collar.
Samurott is obvious based on the real animal, same with Mienshao.
Herdier is a stretch.
And Cobalion's isn't even facial hair at all.
