It's a miracle that microG supports it as well as it does, and it has worked fine for the past 4 or so years, but google already broke it once before, during which time I had to stop playing Go.
It'll always remain a bit of a cat and mouse game, as safetynet is an insane security measure that should make it impossible to run certain apps on phones that have been tampered with/modified in any way. It's so bad that most banking apps don't use it, and even google recommends against using it unless you strictly need security measures like this, which makes it super stupid that Go uses it. I don't even know any other games that do. I guess it's fair to call SafetyNet the Denuvo of mobile.
In any case, I'd recommend staying away from apps that require this in general, if you want to de-google at some point. For a game it's not a massive loss if it stops working one day, however. I can just hope it remains working for a good while and it won't take three years for magisk/microG to catch up next time.
