X and Y are some of my favorites. It's the first games where I took training and breeding seriously because it became actually accessible. I also really liked the addition of Wonder Trade, getting japanese Bulbasaurs.
It had significantly better pokemon diversity than most previous games, and you could play dressup with your character for the first time.
The only games I like more are Platinum and HGSS.

XY objectively have a lot of good things to them, but unfortunately those things don't cater to me so I must shitpost 20 hours a day about how they're bad.

It’s only one specific spot of grass, isn’t it? The one immediately past the first spot in the first patch. I remember dodging it during nuzlockes by just going around that spot, and it only activates if you step there.

Otherwise, yeah I knew it was scripted. Cottoned on around my third playthrough.

Yeah man, just walk around it. Makes Nuzlockes way more varied thanks to Kalos’ weird philosophy of making sure every route has like 5 encounters on it. Make sure to avoid the spot I circled and the scripted encounter’s already out of the way.
