The game doesn't care when you sleep, just how much you sleep. The most it does is reward you for going to bed before the bedtime that you set for yourself. If you set your bedtime for 11am, it won't care as long as you're in bed by that time.
The game also doesn't seem to care if you sleep too much, only too little. I slept over 10 hours one night and got a perfect score lmao.

Australian here who's used it for two nights now, I don't get why it asks you to plug it in, during a full night of use it only used 6% of battery, I fully charged just to test and was left on 94, I'll never be plugging it in

no it's not, it's much more harmful to do charge/discharge cycles every day than to keep a battery plugged in if you're not using the device

FULL discharge cycles, from 100 to 0, yes.
Regularly charging above 80 slowly ruins your battery's capacity, and keeping it at 100 for hours does it faster.
There are apps that let you completely stop charging once you hit a specified battery%, I think some Android skins have it built in now.

I usually fall asleep with music too (set to turn off after ~45 minutes), but my data recorded fine last night. Level of noise doesn't seem to have any impact on the data since it's mostly reading the movement of your mattress, but it also records random sounds it hears in the night for you to listen back to, so you might miss out on that feature if there's a constant noise level in the background drowning it out.

Both of you retards are wrong. Modern phones are safe to charge overnight. They don't keep your phone at 100%. They usually will let it lower before charging again. The battery icon is not indicative of what's actually going on in the phone.

Charging and discharging a battery regularly is how it was intended to be used and is generally the best practice. Batteries that completely discharge and are left empty for months/years don't last as long as ones that are used regularly.

Obviously there are variations depending on the manufacturer of the phone and companies will often artificially cap the capacity of batteries through software updates. Apple was sued for this, but still continues to do it in the name of "battery health".

The only thing that playing as a minor should disable is the ability to share your sleep data with friends (I think that's it, anyway). Kinda retarded to block kids from benefitting from friend research. Seems like a huge gimp and I don't see how kids could be groomed through the app itself if there is no direct form of communication.

no, because it doesn't sync with HealthKit, and you have to plug your phone in and place it face down on your mattress to use it.
I have a MagSafe dock charger for my phone, so it lives on my bedside table.

The trick with that is to set it up, do your nap, and then if you wake up before the full 90 minutes has passed just wait before touching the game again. I woke up about 85 minutes after turning sleep mode on, and when I tried to end sleep mode it said it hadn't been 90 minutes, so I just waited a few more minutes and then it ended just fine. it seems it doesn't actually require 90 minutes of you sleeping, but just 90 minutes of being in sleep mode.

The game just drains it that quickly, otherwise it'd survive the night and up to the afternoon without charging. I can only track like 6 hours at most when I wake up at like 7 and see it's about to be totally drained.

i saw it when i filled in my birthday but fixed it, and saw it again when selecting am/pm for my bedtime where i mkssed it the first time (so instead of my bedtime being midnight it was noon)

Can confirm, just took a nap and set an alarm for 95 minutes. Game said I was only asleep for 77 minutes because I took a quarter of an hour to fall asleep, but it still counted as a session and made new pokemon spawn.

I'm saving them since everyone gets exped passively from sleeping anyway and there's close to no benefit from most passive skills you unlock for how slow you get candies.
I usually look up how many candies I'd need to fully evolve a pokemon and only use the excess.
So, for example:
>Caterpie evolves twice, needing 20 then 40 candies
>Save 60 candies
>From thereon, use all the excess on levels

Sometimes while listening to podcasts or watching youtube videos in bed I'll just fall asleep. I'm going to have to actively make a decision when I'm going to sleep or I'll miss a day of sleep on the app. Kind of makes me wish they had some sort of functionality with a smartwatch so it can track sleep automatically.

I slept and took a nap later in the same day. The nap progressed Snorlax, but the game told me only 1 and a half hour of sleep would count since it was my second sleep of the day. So maybe it counts around 8 hours of sleep max per day?

Yes, but you only get one of that 3-point cookie per day. There's also a limit on how many cookies you can give to a single mon per session.
