uturn is a plague. just a brainless move u can click on anything you threaten for free momentum. volt switch at least has counterplay. uturn should be removed from the game or at least make it so only bug types get it.

yes i know there's contact abilities and rocky helmet. still, uturn is way too strong and you can pretty much slap it on anything with a choice item and it instantly becomes better.

just a boring overpowered move that requires no thought to use with little to no drawback.

SMOGON just feels complete Copium at this point. The games are clearly designed and balanced around 2v2 yet people insist on clinging to the archaic and unbalanced 1v1 format.

1v1 is only good for a Nuzlocke run.

if doubles are that important to gamefreak that they have to balance everything around them, they should actually make it a bigger part of the games instead of treating it as a gimmick they toss in one or two battles per game

Getting kids though the kiddy single player experience does not mean they need to make every battle a double battle. Official comps take place in 2v2, therefore the official format they support is 2v2, because they implement it as the multiplayer aspect of the series (where again, they have two whole divisions they care more about than "manchildmasters" because they're the target audience and just yut the target audience, compared to Wolfe, the 27 yo pokémon-obsessed streamer, who doesn't understand the creators of the game he plays for a living don't give a fuck about making his experience compelling.

Playing around U-turn doesn’t exist. By design, the move will always give the user the switch advantage. You could play around switch by predicting your opponent, but since moves like U-turn let you select what you switch into after your opponent already selected their option. Same with Teleport but now with guaranteed hit taking so even Pichu can usually come in safely.
Only Volt Switch and Flip Turn can you really play around since both at least have an immunity.

Wait, thats retarded. Just have switching out occur -7 priority, with the first switch happening according to the faster speed of the mon on field.

300 spe would switch first, and then after the new mon comes in, the 245 switches.

Sticky Web can now target either side (select the other side or yourself) and also prevents switch out moves when landed on, but is also burnt up by fire attacks or a fire pokemon uses a fire move while stuck. Now you can web either side to stop uturners and the like, and have another way to remove a hazard.

Well you can assume they'll u-turn to switch in a mon that either resists your STAB or can hit you for SE, so you have to predict around it and pick a move to damage their switch-in
It's not perfect by any means but with 7 types resisting Bug idk how you'd nerf the move so that it doesn't feel so harsh to play agains

I wish they actually experimented more. Ghost should get one that also curses itself.
So if you swap for ghost you would get normal ghost curse but if not it would give a boost.for incoming mon

Taunt should prevent move based switch out moves from working but still allow manually switch outs, except baton pass which should still function completely and entirely.

Yes it makes sense. There is a lot of moves that should have additional effects like that.
I still dont understand why mean look only traps opponent - IMO punishing it with paralize would also be neat and make this move way better

Or at least a chanced additional effect, like a 50% chance taunt also locks a target from personal switches or mean look paralyzes (paralyze anyone with a lower sdef than satk or pdef than patk depending on the user's highest stat, like a "i can fuck you up and your weaker than me, so freeze" paralyze)

Retreat costs. Stage 1 Pokémon don't have any, but for a Stage 3 you lose enough PP that switching out too often will lock you out of vital moves.
