>>54113563For me personally, it was very exciting for Gamefreak to take the dive into 3D. However, after the novelty wore off, I realized that most of the Pokemon's idle stances were very bland. Gen 5's animated sprites had issues (mostly because of the dynamic camera fucking with the scaling of the pixels), but they were still heaps more fun to look at inbetween Pokemon attacks.
For example, Heatmor would actually show its flame tongue. Vanilluxe would create puffs of ice out of its wafer-like tube. Timburr would flip its log into the air. Pokemon just generally had more expressive idle movements and fidget animations, even if in Gen 5 it was their ONLY movement.
