>>54123167I generally do like Bug Pokémon and their designs. Most are at least fine, some amazing. Too often they're slapped with the secondary Flying type, but at least it makes some sense given their designs. That said, I still think that Butterfree should've been Bug/Psychic, or at the very least, Venomoth should have in which case they should swap around Venomoth and Butterfree designs like they obviously originally were supposed to be. It's a shame GF is too stubborn to retcon their mistakes.
I feel like Pinsir could've had a secondary typing, too. Fighting seems obvious, but Rock or Ground could've worked, too. Also, I'd love to see more of Scyther/Scizor type of evolutions, where the typing changes, but BST remains the same, only redistributed. It's kinda cool.
Heracross is bae, but I feel like second gen bugs asode from It and Scizor are lacking. Give Ariados Strong Jaw and elemental fangs, and Ledian needs a stat redistribution badly, but I do like their designs. Also, Lydian deserves all elemental punches.
In third gen my buggest gripe is that Masquerain became Bug/Flying instead of remaining a Bug/Water type. Aside from that I feel like Beautifly/Dustix are a tai too close to Butterfree/Beedrill in some ways, but I like them regardless. Also, Ninjask is fine but I wish Shedinja would've been a bit more balanced; insteaf of 1 HP and immunity to most types, it should have low HP (Base 50) and an ability that halves damage from non-SE moves. Volbeat and Illumise need a bit more identity to separate them from each other, but I do like that they're pure Bug instead of part Flying. Armaldo is fine.
Im fourth gen it's a bit of a mixed bag. Wormadan is just lame, and Mothim suffers from being yet another boring Bug/Flying with middling stats. At least it looks fine. Kricketune is a meme, Vespiquen is at least fine, and Yanmega is great. In 5th gen Bug types really popped off, though. Not a single bad design. No notes.
