Hard to choose. I like both the wildcats and the sheeple. If a gun were to my head, I'd probably choose the Mareep line. Luxray is cool, but Ampharos is like one of the definitive Pokemon designs for me that I always enjoy making it part of my experience.

Less of one than you'd think, actually. Even with the Gyarados Kingdra is the only real speedbump, and it can be dealt with via a mix of high Special Defense investment and a Passho berry, and that's assuming she doesn't just whiff the Hydro Pump and get fucked by an EQ or crit Stone Edge

Ampharos, its one of my favorite Pokemon. Luxray is fantastic too, but Ampharos is too good. I remember as a kid there was a trainer right before the Miltank Farm in Gen 2 that had one, I'd rematch her all the time just to enjoy battling Ampharos. It was a wholesome time.

Would Luxray be better than Ampharos in HGSS? It gets outsped and Earthquaked by everyone in Sinnoh but 70 Speed, a better ability, and access to Choice Specs/Scarf could end up mattering in Johto.
