The only reason Charizard got nothing in Gen 7 was because it still had its two broken meta-defining megas.

normally I'd say Charizard would only get 1 meta-defining broken special snowflake Terastal form, but Charizard didn't get anything in at the start of Gen 9 so its needs to get two to make up for that. Plus Charizard is definitely getting a Dragon Tera form in addition to its Dark tera form.

Given how bubbled other Japanese devs are, I wouldn't be surprised if they're doing this to see if people are actually hyped about Charizard or if it's a negative meme.
Code distribution would be the easiest means of gauging interest, as you have to connect to a server to redeem.

Only if you really need a Pokemon fix. The game's decent but has nonexistent levels of playability after you roll the credits, capture the Treasures of Ruin quartet and complete postgame since the only things to do are shiny hunt, grind raids and battle the same few cookie cutter teams online, now made even more inaccessible unless you have a means to acquire those that are currently HOME-exclusive Pokemon.

There's no powercreep because there is card/set rotation among the cards. You aren't able to play with base set or gen 3 cards in a modern deck.
So while, yes, the cards have gotten stronger, there isn't powercreep because these cards haven't taken the place of old cards. You literally cannot use the old cards even if you wanted to.

YGO has powercreep because you're able to use cards from 2002 in a contemporary deck.
