It's easy as hell to be a Pokemon fan today. Hardly any of the large playerbase today would have played it when it was one of the most panned and mocked franchises in the world to the point where admitting playing was legitimate social suicide.
The large swaths of fans you see today don't give one singular shit about the actual games, just its popularity, memes, and what profit they can siphon for themselves with it. This is doubly true with women who claim to be fans of this game.
The fans are gone. There is no actual Pokémon Fan that would have bought gen 8 onward. All that’s left is hyper consuming fanboys and fangirls
