>>54165289PLA getting overrated is just the natural consequence of a few unique factors of the series. Fans that don't really play any other games and don't care to, games that have been pretty much complete copy paste jobs since day 1, and the decline in quality over recent gens.
It isn't what could be considered a good game by video game standards for a variety of reasons, but it tried to do something for the first time in this series's life and actually paid attention to making the game feel good to play, so naturally a lot of people hold it up on a pedestal.
I do as well, specifically because it's an example of ideas come forward when Ohmori and the late Masuda are completely removed from a project, and how some of those ideas are inline with what I'd like to see from the series even if they need some continued development.
