Gym Leaders arent the problem, thats a meme like Kanto being too small. Even the level curve by itself doesn't ruin the game. The problem is unironically wild Pokemon levels and exp gain.

Most wild Pokemon in the game don't go beyond level 30. If you fuck up your party with shitmons (which is everything in Johto) and run out of trainers to battle you can do literally nothing but grind Graveller in caves and shit over and over. It's fucking retarded. That's why every team is the same shit like Gyarados + starter over and over because you can't add team members. You can only add high level mons like Legendaries because every other mon is 10 levels below with no way to catchup.
And HGSS made it worse by not allowing Elite Four to be rematched until you collect all 16 badges. You could literally fix Johto by adding a room with lots of Chansey in Dark Cave or somewhere. This would literally fix EVERYTHING. It would let you actually use new mons and experiment with shitmons and drop your Sudowoodos and Ledians for something else. Instead you are stuck with your shitty level 35 Ledian at Victory Road and it will never be able to beat Red. So you have to funnel to your starter or Lugia or one of the 5 other actually viable mons.

the only reason it started is because xp share was forced to be always on and the only way for them to cope is to nitpick the older gens and say "see, these are totally bad too, so stop complaining about the new games being shit and consooom!"

this argument is funny because the level curves in the newer games are forced to be shit because of the exp share changes. only 3 gyms are negatively affected by (possible) level curve issues depending on which order you do them in, whereas almost every gym and especially league are fucked past gen 6

That is definitely wrong. You can rematch them, they just don't have the stronger teams. Still strong enough for grinding.

Meanwhile Gen II has coasted on undeserved credibility for years and actually requires significant breakdowns of why it's not that great.

Nobody is ever going to waste their time doing that for Gen VI, but if Unovabortions ever become as obnoxious outside of this site as Johtoddlers have been, then it may become Gen V's turn.
