I still don't know what the fuck "level curve" actually means.

This happens in literally every Pokemon game so I don't get why people pretend it's only a problem in the Johto games.

the complaint with johto isnt that you become over or under leveled. the exp in that game is proportioned fine. my understanding is that they just complain that you only go up to level 40ish for the whole adventure, basically not using >50% of available progression and making the difference between the gyms feel smaller.

yeah most games end around 50. so its not like a super pronounced difference, although it is made more head-scratching when you also factor in the fact that there's an extra 8 gyms, and they also don't go any higher. for "in universe realism" i guess?

All of the common complaints about Johto just apply to Pokemon in general, but all of the actual bad design like IVs or version exclusives never comes up

They use "Level curve" because they don't like grinding even though you never have to grind.
Otherwise the correct "level curve" is when the gyms aren't formatted properly, like Pryce specifically, but then they say that word again because they feel like they HAVE to grind against the elite 4 when you really fucking don't.
These normies can't comprehend that the level difference in that point of the game is irrelevant, it's the moves you use

Because they can't comprehend that Kanto is still part of the main adventure.
HGSS fixed a couple of them like Sabrina having a much higher level boost compared to the original

all the kanto gyms are lower level than the elite 4 though. if it kept going up and you were only a few levels behind red when you were wrapped up with gyms, i don't think people would complain nearly as much if at all
