Lillie fails to protect Nebby and stop Lusamine, but instead of being an inconsolable mess, she takes a night to collect herself and decides to buckle down and do what she needs to do to help them both. She could cry about her failing at her only major goal, but she has the heart and maturity to realize that won’t help anyone, what’s done is done, and she needs to focus on what she can do NOW for the ones she loves.
I find that admirable, especially given her age. I find that Lillie detractors are the kind of people who laugh and a skinny guy in a gym barely benching anything instead of spotting them, encouraging them, and helping them be the best they can be. Lillie starts off behind the player, and ends the game at the place we started, but she will keep growing and learning and becoming even more amazing!
