Gen 6 was such a mess. Thank good game freak realized what a mistake it was and started removing everything from it in gen 9. It's like they finally realized gen 6 is completely unacceptable. Gen 9 is shaping to be the best nugen since gen 3 because of removing the baggage from that garbage gen

Most Pokemon from Gen 1/2. Sugimori basically butchered some Pokemon because he personally felt "they looked better" a certain way. Tons of Pokemons colors were changed, all Pokemon are washed out now, etc.

Mewtwo is a good example too, he tail is no longer purple, it's pink.

We can't have Pokemon looking menacing. We can't sell plushies, cards, toys, that way. they have to be brightly colored mascots for braindead Japanese children. It's also why routes and areas have to be either bland and empty as fuck so they don't get lost, or insanely linear. It's very hard, they once got stuck in Gen 2 Rock Tunnel, we can't have that.

Final Feraligatr was always meant to look like that in Sugimori's vision. Its Gen2 artwork is definitely less bulky than the Gen2 sprites and only seems a bit more muscled on the shoulders area because of the angle. 3D models don't have an angle because they can be looked at from any direction.
