Because I still like the TCG and waifus at least. The rest has been a pile of garbage since Gen 5 outside of the occasional good pokemon design.

i was playing Red and the Stadium games earlier this year
i don't like any of the switch games, but that doesn't mean i can't enjoy the older games anymore
pokemon is just something i come back to every once in a while now and not a major interest

What is more concerning is the executives over at Gamefreak or even the higher ups that are green lighting these shitty Pokemon games. Why tf is Nintendo 10 years behind every other gaming studio? Why cant they just use Unreal Engine like everyone else?

Nintendo isn't even that far behind, most of the games are solid and usually hits for the mainline titles that still look decent. The problem is GameFreak is making gams that look worse than Wind Waker and it released in 2002.

No excuse, they have control of the biggest franchise on the planet, they should do better. It's understandable that they don't have the time to make 1000+ models with unique animations for every single Pokemon, but they need to make a solid game in the first place so they have less work to do in future iterations. On top of that if they actually bothered with stylistic choices with cel-shading rather than trying for these weird washed out models that sometimes look like badly designed claymation.

The Spin-Offs are decent too. New Pokemon Snap is just like the old one, but more and better so far
Otherwise haven't touched the main series since the GBA, was pissed I couldn't transfer my pokemons and I kept looking at it from the side and... every subsequent gen basically looked less and less impressive as time went on and couldn't even solve some of their days old problems in a good way

I still love the series conceptually because it's always been a huge part of me and it's always exciting to see the new mons but I can't for the life of me say I'm a "Pokémon fan". Not with the current, horrendous state it's in.

Because until Gen 8 I at least had a reason to stick around. After that the company just admitted they don't give a rats ass about longtime fans. But at this point I'm still a fan of the franchise as a whole, so why shouldn't I call myself a fan?

The only enjoyable nugens are 3,4,5, and 7. The franchise is in a horrible state thanks to gen 6, but game freak is finally moving past gen 6 and deleting everything from it. Gen 10 might even be good.
