Getting older doesn't somehow make things worse unless you're insanely blinded by nostalgia. Just as getting older doesn't stop bad designs and graphical effort from being bad. There is hardly any real quality control in Pokemon anymore other than "it's mascot enough, it'll sell merchandise". And before you argue that that is nostalgia, Gen 1 and Gen 2 have bad designs too.
