Sounds like the reviewer in particular had an inflated sense of himself and was determined to "take that" the management, when reality is GF senior staff look for people that can multitask before single-discipline staff (eg, you can draw and also code in some fashion or can write music along with being able to do sommething else related to game production) and those that have multiple skills get preferential treatment to single-use staff (as they're more useful and hold more to the ethos of Gen 1 Game Freak than passengers).
