Couldn't they had just given it bide as its only offensive move and not fucked up its stats on top?
This should've been the Gyarados of rock/ground but instead its even weaker than a fucking geodude.

No. Gyarados was powerful because it was like a reward for painfully leveling up a useless fish for hours, that was the point. Onix doesn't have that.

But i agree it didn't deserve to be such a useless piece of shit.

Broke could gave had a Dragonite with Tackle and it would have been fine since stats aren’t as important early on.
Like you said, Brock literally has a stronger Pokemon base stat wise, so clearly stats were never the issue.

They should buff Onix to have the same BST as Steelix but different typing and stat spread, like Scyther and Scizor.

I would prefer if they took some of its defence and gave it to his attack. Onix actually became even more weaker with the special and physical split in gen 4.

Its attack is literally at the same of oddish dude.
Giving it Bide would let him keep his stats instead of fucking him over even more because you have to be a collosal retard to get filtered by Bide
